Bio for DG Silvana Bosca

Introduction of District Governor

Silvana Bosca, District Governor 2018-19
Rotary Club of Bathurst

A native of Bathurst, Silvana became the first female member of the Rotary Club of Bathurst in 1995 and 3 years later became the first female Club president. Talk about engaging a new member!!

When asked what attracted her to Rotary, Silvana will say,  “It was the Club’s support for providing funding for physically challenged children that initially attracted me, but what kept me there, was the efficiency in which members took action to help in the community.  If someone needed a wheelchair ramp, for example, they made it happen – everyone just pitched in and got it done!”

Career-wise, she started out as a Physiotherapist, then moved into management and hospital administration; her last position,  before retiring 5 years ago, was senior policy advisor to the VP of Medical Affairs of one of New Brunswick’s two health regions.

Active in her community, Silvana recently co-chaired the Hospital Foundation major community fund-raising campaign, was volunteer Run director for the CIBC Run for the Cure for 9 years, and served on various boards including the NB Lung Association and NB Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

An enthusiastic golfer and gardener, she also enjoys driving her Harley Davidson Streetglide, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, travelling and spending time at the camp with her husband Andy LeBlanc.

But the number 1 passion for Silvana and Andy are their grandchildren, Eve 6 years and Mila 4 months and believe they are extremely fortunate that both of Andy’s sons and their families live in Bathurst.

Silvana looks forward to meeting District 7810 Rotarians during her visit to your club over the next 3 months.
