Darren Hansen,
District Governor
Born in Fredericton, NB, Darren Hansen has been a resident of Moncton since 1996 and a member of the Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview since December 2000.
Darren and his wife of 21 years, Erin, met while attending the University of New Brunswick; and were married after completion of their respective degrees. Erin has a degree in psychology from UNB and an education degree from Crandall University. She works as a teacher in the Anglophone East School District. Darren graduated civil engineering at UNB and he’s President of Heartland Developments Inc., a commercial real estate firm that develops, manages and owns commercial real estate holdings in New Brunswick. Darren & Erin have twin daughters Elise and Olivia; both are currently attending Mount Allison University, undertaking science degrees in biochemistry. They plan to pursue graduate degrees and are members of the Rotaract Club at Mount Allison.
Darren’s involvement in Rotary at the club level has been intensive and rewarding. He has been a board member for the majority of his years with the Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview. Darren’s board positions have included Membership Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and President. Darren is a strong supporter of the Rotary Foundation. For the past three years, and currently, he serves as Foundation Chair for the club; the second time he has accepted this responsibility. Darren continued his support of the Foundation by becoming a member of the Paul Harris Society; and is now a Paul Harris Fellow +7. Darren is also a Bequest Society member.
Darren received his first Paul Harris Fellowship recognition from the Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview as “Rotarian of the Year” in 2007. Darren received the Frank Hussey Award as Rotarian of the Year from District 7810 in 2008/09 and served as District Trainer under PDG John Carkner.
In addition to Darren’s commitment to Rotary, he has served on the Board of Directors of Moncton Headstart for the last 5 years; and is currently in his second year of his two year term as Board President. He also serves as Secretary on the Board of Curl Moncton and was a committee member for the City of Moncton Brier Bids for 2019 & 2020.
Darren enjoys many physical activities including golfing, curling, cycling, skiing and hiking. Darren & Erin most enjoy spending time with family and friends, enjoying all that New Brunswick has to offer.
Darren looks forward to preparing for his year as District Governor in 2021/22 and will, as always, put his heart and soul into the role. He is also looking forward to meeting and working with fellow Rotarians throughout the District.
