2017-2018 District 7810 Governor Report
District Conference Bathurst October 21st 2018

Congratulations to Rotarians in District 7810 for Making a Difference.

As the lead it was my Goal to bring a business structure to our District.

There were a number of first time initiatives and some reorganizing of structure in other areas.

A mentorship was established with all Chairpersons who were in transition of a third year!

The introduction of GOTOMEETING under Ginny’s year, with minimal internet cost, but with significant cost savings for travel and the opportunity to communicate an effective forum of networking geographically, I would say was the most effective and efficient manner of conducting business to date for the District.

A first for District 7810 Million Dollar Initiative co-chaired by two Past District Governors, Allan MacLellan and Michel Leger. This is a joint Foundation Initiative with our Rotarian Friends in District 7820, which was launched in July 2017.

The Finance Committee was re-established to meet monthly, with quarterly Financial statements supplied by the District Treasurer, with specific terms of reference, the individuals were designated to be American and Canadian equally, two Assistant Governors and two Past District Governors with the Immediate Past District Governor as Chairperson for continuity of Budget Transparency in the District. Members for 2017 -2018 Chairperson IPDG Ginny Joles , Assistant Governors Robbie Griffin, Cliff Rhome the two Past District Governors John Carkner and Greg  Campbell.  Pre-Pets for two Areas Presque Isle and Bathurst offered Training for incoming Club Treasurers with Rotarians with Accounting Designations facilitating this education component.

The opportunity of monthly meetings were created and I am grateful to all of the Chairpersons who facilitated with structure and educational opportunities that were an asset for all. Those Active participants were: Foundation, Assistant Governor’s, Presidents, Board of Directors, Committee Chairpersons, Membership, Public Image and Literacy. A few of these committees were expanded to invite one person from each Club to a social education evening. These meetings were structured for a period of one hour specifically. Assistant Governor’s developed a Training program facilitated by themselves from a program guided through RI. Assistant Governor’s  continue to be the conduit of information within our District.

Rotaract Clubs were supported with guidance from Susan Kulesza and Don McKay. We have Clubs in Woodstock, Fredericton, Mount Allison. There is interest in St John and Miramichi which will hopefully create Clubs in 2018 - 2019.

Interac Clubs under the guidance of Greg McDiarmid have maintained membership with a new Club created in Bathurst.

District Youth Committee facilitates as an independent Committee. We were not able to facilitate RYLA in 2017 - 2018 under this Committee. The Committee Member Noel Eustace attended a Youth Conference in Poland in September 2017, Marcel Gervais also attended conferences on this topic in Canada and the US. Chairperson of this committee is Wayne Wornes.

Anthony Waddell volunteered in January 2018, to create a District Strategic /Vision Plan with input from every Club plus giving opportunity to each Rotarian on their personal input in the District, which he is actively pursuing.

DDF Grants were delayed for the 2018 - 2019 year due to the delay of completion of paper work of Global Grants from several years past. The Governor line has been working on this the past several years with the assistance of RI.

The GIIVE project continues to be active. This project has been led by the Woodstock and Presque Isle Clubs, Initially to assist with eco stoves, eco water and eco sanitation, this project has extended to other areas of Rotary’s six areas of Focus.

The Past District Governors met twice. I am hoping this group of Educated Rotarians continue to meet on a regular basis to share their expertise and four years of High Level Rotary International Education and Leadership Training with Rotarians in our District. Mentorship is priceless.

We were excited to celebrate the Donation of a kidney to Michael Walsh from one of his District Governor classmates, Lyle Ryan of California. A true Rotary SERVICE ABOVE SELF gesture.

The Highlight of our District year was the Donation of over a MILLION Dollars for Polio Plus in a Legacy Gift that was received from an anonymous Donor. This Donation gave us number 1 status in the world and will be matched 2 to 1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

It has been a humbling experience to work with so many devoted Rotarians in our District 7810. I am blessed to have met so many wonderful individuals that shared their Rotary experiences with me that made my journey priceless and memorable, so many making a huge Difference in many Communities.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Chatham for their Confidence and Support.

Congratulations and Thank you for everything you do in the name of Rotary.
