January Governor's Message

My fellow Rotarians,

It is with an incredible amount of pride and excitement that I let you know about some wonderful news connected with Rotary's polio eradication efforts and our very own District 7810. I am so pleased to announce that we have received word of a realized estate gift from a non-Rotarian who left the majority of assets to The Rotary Foundation in her will. This gift--considered a multiple Arch Klumph Society Donation--comes out of District 7810, though the donor wished to remain anonymous. Her attorney, who was a Rotarian in District 7810, recommended Rotary as a beneficiary at the time she drew up her estate papers many years ago.

This gift is designated for Polio eradication efforts and will be matched two-to-one by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
This gift is a testimony to the work of Rotary around the world with regard to Polio eradication. In the past 100 years, The Rotary Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting our service projects around the world. Of significant note, Charity Navigator lists The Rotary Foundation as number 3 in the top ten Charities everyone has heard of in the World.

I also believe this gift speaks to the important work our District has done over the years to raise community awareness about Rotary's polio eradication efforts around the globe. I and our District leadership are so proud of the work all of you do to raise awareness and funds for this most important cause.
We are humbled by this most generous private donation, we hope it serves as an inspiration to you as you continue your good work in the name of Rotary, and we have no doubt that it will make a significant difference in the eradication of Polio in the world.
